Axie caught in gravel vaccum @_@!

Hey guys. Was just doing a water change with a gravel vacuum, and I looked away to make sure my bucket wasn't spilling over, and when I turned back, my axie got caught @_@!

I unplugged the tubing and got her free, but now her head is red/swollen and she's unmoving. Still alive, but I'm seriously freaked out. I pulled her out of the big aquarium and she's in a tub by herself so I can monitor her
I think she just might be freaked out, but I'm shaking so badly from hurting her D:!


Has this ever happen to anybody? Was everything ok? D:

Quick update.
The redness is fading, which is good! She's still not moving around too much, so im keeping an eye on her but I placed her back in the tank.
I probably overly panicked but noticed there was a lot of slime/skin on the vaccum intake tube, so her slime coat is probably thin/gone on her sides.

Pearl didn't know she volunteered to do the Kylie Jenner challenge. :X

I haven't had this happen but I would probably keep her in the tub so you can monitor her closely. You will need to do 100% water changes daily whilst she is in the tub. Cool, clean water will help her recover. I am not sure what else you can do but wait and see if the swelling goes down by itself which it probably will over time. You could offer a black tea bath to soothe the skin maybe?

As above . Syphons are potentially lethal , as your obviously aware of now. Use a wide bore one to clean with, its harder to get an adult stuck on the end and if they are small they go for a ride. With a small bore syphon you can actually disembowel juveniles if they get caught on the stomach or flank.

What would be considered wide and small? I googled that term but didn't see anything in particular pop up :X

I would consider anything over an inch wide bore.
