Is this normal? I just noticed one of my axies apparently chasing his tail. He stopped after a moment or two and seems fine, but, is this okay behavior?

He's not chasing his tail, he's more likely to be trying to scratch at his gills because they are irritated. Check your water parameters, and check your axie for gill injury or fungus.

Hmm, the water parameters are normal and his gills don't appear to have any fungus. I'll try to get a closer look later and see if there are any injuries. At a glance I didn't see anything wrong. My other axie in the tank isn't acting weird so at least that's good.

I did a big water change just in case. I've had problems with testing kits in the past so in case that's the problem I'm having now I figured better safe than sorry. I don't see any fungus or injuries at all on any gills. And they are both acting completely normal now. When I changed the water I also noticed one of the decorations was a little rough around the edges so I took it out. Perhaps the axie had scraped his gill on that, enough to irritate but not enough to damage?
