Hello everyone
Mi 3 month old axie, Mac, has been eating sand for the last week... He does this every day, constantly, and i can tell he is swallowing it since i inspected his poop today and hada decent amount of sand in it. He is doing fine right now, perfectly healthy, he is growing fast an eating a lot! his gills are pointing back, no signs of stress, water parameters are good (ammonia 0, neutral PH and low nitrites) water temp is at a constant 17.5 Celsius, i purchased a water chiller and works great. Since this is a behavior problem, i honestly have no idea how to help, im not planning on removing the sand, it is a planted, cycled tank... Im really concerned this can eventually make him ill and kill him from GI problems. Ive been trying to feed him constantly in small amounts (three times a day) instead of two times a day, hoping this will make him less hungry and stop his urge to eat sand. Has anyone here encountered this problem before? Any thoughts? Thank you!
