Hi all
When can axies start eating earth worms?
Also what foods can they eat?
My axie is roughly around 22 weeks old and it been eating live blood worms and tubifex since I got it at 15weeks old and now it's bigger (obviously) he's eating £40-£50 of bloodworms and tubifex per week.
I have tried pellets, frozen blood worms and dried bloodworm he will not eat anything unless its live so just wanted to try it with new live foods if there's anything else they can eat and at what age shall I introduce and how do I prepare the food as earthworms look rather large for an axie

Of you can find earthworms, they can be chopped to size with scissors, they'll keep wriggling for a while.
A little trick I found to get them eat pellets is to add them while feeding the live worms, they may accidentally eat them and discover they are quite tasty.

I can get earthworms online but I've been told from a few people I shouldn't give it earthworms til they are a year old but then others have said that it's ok to give them and I will definitely try your trick as I've already popped a few pellets in its tank and it did try 2 pellets max but then never touched them again so it actually has tried them

young axies are very much movement orientated when young and will snap at anything that moves (including other axies) as they get older they become more inclined towards routing for food although they wont pass up live food if given a chance but are easier to provide for (and cheaper) as they will eat a variety of frozen food (bloodworm, krill, mysis, mussel and cockle, also chopped prawns) aswell as live food (worms, shrimp and small live bearing fish)

You can absolutely feed earth worms before a year, there is no reason at all not to. I've always raised larvae with microworm, white worm and then chopped earthworm as soon as they were big enough. 😊
