What would cause this? I've read about "bloat" but she's not floating. Just laying on her side. Belly darker and distended when this started, but is back to normal color and size.

She's in a 20 L with another Axolotl.
Bare bottom tank, no small decor, with floating java fern and marimo balls
I use a HOB filter with charcoal cartidges
I did a 50% water change the week before.
I didn't check the parameters during this time.
The other axolotl is showing NO symptoms of being ill

For backstory read below.

I recently ran out of nightcrawlers, but had some frozen bloodworm cubes in my freezer. I fed each of my axolotls the same amount I used to before I switched them over to nightcrawlers exclusively, 4 cubes per tank. I have 2 axies per 20L right now, and they are about 10 inches.

All of the axolotls ate and are doing fine, except one. Several hours later she was laying on her side. I chalked it up to her being chubby, and she couldn't get turned around. She was in between a cave and the side of the tank.

The next morning my husband called and said she was laying on her side in the tank. He had spoken with an admin of an Axolotl group on FB, who had recommended that we remove her from the tank and fridge her. We put her in a large container, with enough water that she could keep herself upright. We left her alone with the exception of water changes for ~a week.

All this time her belly was pretty distended and was dark in color (she's a GFP lucy so I could tell). She didn't poop, and she was still leaning to the side.

Logic told me that I should take her out of the fridge to see if that would help her pass whatever it is that was in her stomach causing this. I took her out of the fridge and put the container on the counter, continuing to do water changes. After about 2 days there was something small and green in the tank. I wondered if she had ingested some java fern and it was just taking a long time to pass because they don't normally eat vegitation?

The next afternoon, I tried feeding her a nightcrawler, and she ate!! I still wanted to leave her on the counter to see how she reacted to it.

The next afternoon, I fed her another worm. Then a few hours later introduced her back into her aquarium. Her "lean" was gone, and she had eaten, so I said what the heck.

Since she's been back in the aquarium, she has flipped over a couple of times. I didn't want to stress her by moving her back to the small container again. She's been able to right herself eventually. Her color has SIGNIFIGANTLY improved, she's been eating, her belly is down to normal size, but she's still getting flipped over.

She probably hasn't passes everything yet. I'd keep her in the fridge until I saw a big poop
