Hi all, looking for a bit of advice.
im very worried about my nearly 5 year old axie Ice. 2 days ago he was absolutely fine, swimming around and eating like a little pig (as per), yesterday i noticed he was a little less active but he seemed fine and ate the small cricket i offered him, thinking nothing of it i left him be.
on checking on him and his tank mate Rain this morning i honestly thought he was dead. he had red patches all over his body and wasnt moving. thinking it was the dreaded 'red leg' i immediately moved him from the tank to a large storage box filled with de-chlorinated water (didnt want to risk using tank water). on moving him i also noticed the beginnings of what looks like a fungus build up on his gills. i was outside the aquatics shop as soon as it opened in order to purchase marine salt to make up a salt bath (as per the excellent sticky at the top of this section) and he has had one today and will have a second before i go to bed. i intend to give him 2 baths a day roughly 12 hours apart from 9am tomorrow morning, is this correct?
Ice and Rain are housed together in a 4ftx1ftx1.5ft tank. filtration is provided by a low power filter with spray bar. temp has risen slightly to around 19 degrees C in the past week due to the heating having to go on, but they are well away from the radiator in the coldest part of the room. all levels appear to be in range, but il get everything re-tested by the aquatic shop if needed. last water change (with aged water) was a week ago.
Rain so far appears to be unaffected by whatever Ice has and is behaving normally.
Any ideas on what i should do for the best?
