I've been feeding my axo repashy and pellets atm.. and was curious as to things I can feed my axo to diversify his diet. I know red wrigglers, nightcrawlers, etc are good, I've been meaning to buy some but haven't gotten around to it! I just wanna know from an experienced keeper what are something I can add :)

Which pellets are you using? I like the Rangen pellets - they're sold by a people on Amazon, some of which claim they make them themselves but are fibbing. Michael Shrom, a member here, sells them at cheap prices and I use them myself. As for other foods, people use nightcrawlers a lot, but I recommend you cut them up - makes it easier for the axolotls to digest them and lowers the risk of regurgitation. Some people use frozen prawns (big shrimp for our American readers) as treats.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
