Axolotl at pet store

I was just at a local pet store and saw axolotls for the first time. They were turned in by a customer. I was thinking of realscuing them. They are in a. Set small tank there. My concern is this one has a large black legion on his head. Anyone know what it could be??

That black area looks to be a cancerous growth.

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
