Axolotl biting herself?

I was cleaning the tank and my axolotl is in a little tub on her own and then my mum noticed that she was biting her tail like fully tail in mouth. This is really weird and i have never noticed this before, and was wondering what this might be a sign off?

I'd start with the basics & make sure the water is clean & safe - otherwise put straight into a tub of dechlorinated water.

Scratching & biting are signs of irritation either from water quality or possibly parasites. Is the tail damaged after being nibbled on? If not perhaps its itchy or just feels good to nibble on
They do the funniest things sometimes for no obvious reason

Have visions of a lotl rolling round the tank chasing its tail.. x)

As Nikki said they do some pretty trippy things sometimes. As long as there is no issues with its evniroment, may just be a cute quirk.
