Illness/Sickness: Axolotl Bleeding

I would try frozen blood worms. Just de-thaw and rinse them first. Mine love them. Also earth worms cut into pieces to make them small enough for her.
Did you try a salt bath when you first saw her hurt? I would hate to see you lose her.:(
 
Nooo, I didn't because I thought salt baths were only for fungus. And he stopped bleeding almost as soon as I noticed it.

And what I've been trying are frozen bloodworms, he just won't take them. Earthworms either.
 
I'm sorry. When my axies don't feel good. Fungus or not I salt bath them. That might be bad advice. But mine are very healthy and between 8-10 in. Long
 
That worries me too, and I don't understand why he isn't eating. Ammonia clearly isn't the problem anymore, and I'm keeping the water cool with frozen bottles.
 
Salt baths generally are only used to treat fungus rather than injuries as they are very harsh on the skin ans can aggravate any raw areas.

If he is feeling unwell and is reluctant to eat then I highly doubt that the stress of being salt bathed will do much to stimulate his appetite.

You could try leaving his somewhere cool and dark for a day or so, don't check on him just leave him alone and give him a chance to chill and then go back and offer food?
 
I don't have a thermometer on the container he's in, but the water feels pretty cool to the touch. I keep a frozen water bottle in it and replace it whenever the water feels warmer.

I think I'll try that after I change his water tonight. Do you think he could be stressed because I keep him on my desk, and I'm always at my desk? There's a light right over where I keep him, but I don't have it on all the time. I only turn it on when I do homework and when I go to feed him.

Also water changes can be stressful because I have to catch him in a little container and switch him out between bigger containers.
 
If the container is small he might be to cold if you have a frozen water bottle in with him all the time. And it will also decrease his appetite. Or if your waiting and putting one in and then over night it de-thaws and you put a other in the temperatures might be stress in him out.
 
I can keep the water bottles out. I'm just afraid the water will get too warm for him and I can't test it. I'll keep him in a dark place all day tomorrow and see if I can get him to eat on friday.
 
So, I put him in fresh water as close to the window as feasible without him actually being in the window to try and keep the water cool, but a lid with holes in it on top of that and a towel over the whole thing so light and movement are less likely to freak him out.

I hope this is the right thing to do.

Sounds like a great spot for the moment.

It really is essential to get a thermometer - a digital one is great but even a cheap glass one will give you a good idea of what the temp is.

Have you tried to find live blackworms?

I have a thermometer. It's just on the tank and not on the little steralite container i have him in at the moment. Should i take it off the tank and put it in the smaller container? I don't know if it's big enough or if i'll be able to read it through the plastic.

And no, I haven't because I can't find them locally, and i don't have the money to buy them in bulk off the internet. I'm getting a little bit of money over the weekend, was going to buy food with it, but I think i'll try and get him some worms.
 
Why can't he go back into his tank?

I'm just thinking that maybe if he was in his home with places to hide etc he might relax and get his appetite back.
 
Because I thought that the reason he wouldn't eat in the first place was because of an issue with his tank. I hadn't figured out what it is yet though
 
Didn't you have temperature problems and an ammonia spike?

What are your current tank parameters?
