One of my axolotls gills are very small. How long does it take for them to grow back?

Axolotl gills are highly variable. It's based on a number of things, especially genetics and environment. If they were nipped off by a predator (or sibling), they could grow back in a few weeks. If they are naturally small, or the animal is in a fairly oxygen-rich environment, they might not get any bigger.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
