Hello!

Recently I noticed my female axolotl Sakura not moving much… I know they like to “chill” most of the time but she hasn’t moved in some time. I tried searching her and I saw her front left foot, floated and she’d holding it to herself.

My thought was it was either broken or hurt, but I’m not sure.

I can send photos if needed!
I will be happy if I get some answers!

hello!
photos would be greatly appreciated. i would tub her immediately and proceed with treatments based on what myself and other forum members determine is the issue.

Hello! Of course! I will get a photo of her when you can see it perfectly… might take a while tho as she likes to hide😅

Hi yes! I tried photographing her many times but she always ran away… but I got this!
yikes. definitely looks broken, and the swelling isnt a great sign. i recommend veterinary intervention immediately, possibly to amputate.

Well that’s a big problem.. we live in a very small town and a vet from here is a 4 hour drive. Will she be fine if I don’t take her anywhere? Also, will fridging or anything else help?

looking at it again i'm not sure its an actual break, it might just be an injury with a lot of swelling. i suspect an internal fracture, which would best be amputated. you may want to have her tubbed for a bit to see if anything changes, but i dont think it will heal on its own. there are ways to do an amputation at home, but that would be a last ditch effort

hi!
JEEBERS! It looks like it hurts!
I would also recommend a vet. And an x-ray too!
