Does the white thing look like an egg?

She looks a bit big to be just full of eggs.

I would suggest a vets visit.

it is like stringy stuff, she does keep going and sitting in the plants, she has been doing that for 48 hours,I am wondering if she is actually a male?she has never laid eggs before

I cant really tell because the cloaca is so swollen.
It looks like some internal infection or something.

Definitely a vet visit if poss.

What do you feed and how much? Does the other one look ok? I would split them up.

It would seem to me to be some sort of internal illness. To my knowledge I don't believe amphibians can ever get "too full" of eggs, (or any animal for that matter). However if something is infected in her reproductive tract...that may cause some sort of blockage.

If sand is the only substrate in the tank, I would still suggest a vet visit.

she is definately a female and the white stuff in her cloaca looks like an egg. I think she will have had laid eggs and that´s why we didn´t get an answer for the last 5 days.:D

I have been on another forum and have seen a similar post about this axolotl. Unfortunately she died.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
