had a heatwave recently but managed to keep the tank at 24c / 75f using frozen bottles etc. following this he has began to float but only slightly. I had him tubbed while I checked the main tanks water and all the parameters are fine. during being tubbed he still maintained the same floating behaviour. is this normal? I've had him for 3 years in march and he was only a baby when I got him I think if that's important. tank is 100L. I'll send some pics once he is out of his hide too

here's some photos. he's also kinda losing his balance too.

until the air has passed through his system he will continue to float to a degree.
ensure adequate water oxygenation to discourage surface gulping.
if he start to float with an inability to correct his posture he will have to be tubbed in shallow water (shallow enough that feet touch ground) until the air blockage has passed.

he rarely ever goes to the surface for air so I'm guessing that my bubbles is doing enough? I also have plants that the filter water passes through. roughly how long should I wait before I tub him if it doesn't get better?

each axolotl is different so there isn't a precise time, if he starts to struggle to stay down or he starts to loose the ability to stay upright then he will need to be tubbed, he could also pass the air with no further problems.
