Axolotl not eating

Yes easy to set up and maintain.. the worms are great size and are reproducing very well.
 
Tried using some seachem entice today, pretty useless to fix the problem, as we speak i have her in a container with 2 crickets and im gonna leave her there for a while and wait to see if she eats them.
 
Where abouts in NSW are you, I'm sure there is a member not too far away to help you source some worms.

As you can see from the pic - this is what's available at Bunnings, if they are out of stock, they can order in for you :happy:

I have tried earth worms as well and no luck there either,
I have 2 axolotls as mentioned earlier, the other one is eating like a monster and is growing to be huge and the other one (who we have had alot longer) seems to be staying the same, the other one loves the crickets he jumped out of the water and snatched it out of my hand before i even went in the water...
I live in eastern suburbs sydney,

She has no other symptoms of anything wrong, swimming good, balance good, no visuals out of ordinary,
 
Is there poo? Just wondering whether she may be constipated. What is the substrate in her tank?

On the topic of earth worms it took a while (1-2 weeks) for some of mine to get accustomed to munching on them. Now they are the staple and they catch them when I drop them. They are full of nutrition and my axies look healthier. Perhaps give it another go if you can. Is there a BCF shop near you? You could get a small punnet to try. I've never fed mine crickets so am not sure of the amount of nutrition etc...
 
Cricket nutrition isnt as good as worms but some say that they prefer crickets sometimes so i tried, for now im thinking about seting up my 40L tank with cycled media and water with magnesium sulfate and sulfathiazole to reduce stress and possibly treat anything that i cant see that might be causing this as sulfathiazole is fairly wide range of medication?
also i forgot to mention the other axie did nip at the one not eating just before this started, it could be the reason why shes acting so shy so the seperate time in the hospital tank may be good as well?
 
i tried fridging her and just after putting her in there she has died.
 
I still need help figuring it out, I have 2 axies and the other one is fine, its extremely sad....
my wife and i have been crying since it happened, ive taken a day off work,
when i left for work she was fine in the hospital tank and when i got back her mouth was open and looked different so i poked her lightly and she went to swim but couldnt swim up properly so i moved her back to the big tank and she just sank and kept trying to swim, whole time her mouth open... i paniced and decided i'd fridge her with low water level so she could get air if needed without swimming,
5 minutes later she was upside down...
i looked in her mouth cause it was still open nothing apeared to be stuck in there and i use fine sand for substrate with nothing she could eat..
when switching between water i make sure 100% the temp and ph are exactly the same to avoid shock, I do maintenance every day, water tests/syphon any waste,

ph 7
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10-30ppm
phosphate is high because i use regulator - plantless tank, i use fake plants
GH - Very hard
temp 18 average max 21
filter is low output with a decent amount of surface disruption for air

I use:
Matrix
Purigen
Prime
Neutral regulator
Stress zyme
Stability sometimes with water changes
API Aquarium Salt in a half dose


I dont use an air stone cause my axies hate it even on low and i got a 5galon one for my 80L tank..

now onto my other axie, he eats fine hes a pig, and he swims perfectly, ive only had him 3 weeks and the one that died i had for months,

the shop i got this one from had high nitrites and ammonia in the water when i got him so i reported them to the RSPCA and called them and told them what to do because they where clueless,
after a day or 2 he was tail in the air and couldnt stay on the ground,
I diagnosed constipation and did an Epsom salt/Blanched pea treatment and it worked the trick within an hour...

but since then he has a problem with shedding skin and or slime coat,
It comes off so easy with a cotton bud, or even when he swims it comes off and he eats it, I read this is normal sometimes but i cleaned him 2 days ago very lightly with a cotton bud, I know its not recommended but he actually seemed to like it, now its coming back again and cant figure out why, once it comes back fully ill post a photo,
but i need to know why yuki died so i dont lose this one.

please help.

Stop using all those chemicals! Not only can they disrupt your cycle (if you have one), but they may also be responsible for your axie shedding its slime coat. I would put your axie in a clean container with fresh dechlorinated water (using a simple dechlorinator, not one that locks up ammonia) in a cool place with a stable temperature below 18 degrees. Give it large water changes to get rid of the ammonia every day. I would strip down the main tank and do a fishless cycle. Again using just a plain dechlorinator. The pH, I believe, needs to be around neutral for the bacteria to colonise your filter. If its over 8 perhaps you need to be looking at adding tannins to the water. Almond leaves or black tea might be enough. I have used black tea (just a teabag in a jug with boiling water for ten minutes, then left to cool and added to the water change bucket).

I agree with everything that Wandering has advised. Especially, stop using all those chemicals.
 
Well matrix and purigen is filter media, stability and zyme i only used when i was doing my cycle which was months ago,
so im only using prime for dechlorinating and neutral regulator for ph buffering and in low doses.
and the aquarium salt in a low dose, which i use cause it is supposed to increase gill function and reduce nitirite stress if there is any nitrites, and reduces general stress, I still suspected the salt for the shedding possibly so i removed all the salt in water changes over a period of time and it still happens, I water change 20% 2-3 times a week
