I have a tiger adult and I bought another juvenile from the same breeder, but I had a friend look at it the other day and he believes it is an axolotl. How do I tell the difference? When I look at the pics there are ones on each side that look like him.

I don't mind either way, I will just give him more swimming space if he is going to stay in the water and quit wasting cage space on land. Thanks!

I vote for axolotl, although I have no experience with Tigers.
From what I've seen though, axolotls seem to be brownish with dark spots, but Tigers seem to be dark with browny spots :D

I would vote the same way ie lotl, as far as I understand tigers have fat toes not long pointy ones, BUT. I have never had tigers or seen them in person, so if I was you I would wait for some superior knolage :D

My suggestion would be to contact the breeder and inquire with them if you have concerns. He/She should know their animals and what they are selling. I am sure that they could easily clarify the situation :D

That's an axolotl. And further, no one has successfully bred tiger salamanders in the US. Your tiger is certainly wild-caught.

It's difficult the world over. The Germans seem to have figured it out, but they're still not bred on a large scale.
