I am looking to acquire an amphibian, I have experience with reptiles, frogs, and freshwater fish. But I'm looking to expand my horizons a little bit, I was looking at axolotls, but after joining this community I'm considering newts and salamanders also. What advice can you give me about my options, pros and cons for each one, and what you would recommend?

Well, you can always start with an axie and then move to the more complicated species. Me, I started with what I caught locally (Eastern newts) and moved on from there.

I'd say axolotls are a good starting point and also spanish ribbed newts are pretty easy to deal with and they are cool! How metal isn't poking your own ribs through your skin to use as weapons?
