I try to make sure my axolotl's food isnt at the very top of his tank, but sometimes when it isnt completely thawed out it floats up a bit and my axolotl swims for it but it looks like he struggles and only uses his legs, not his tail. Is this a bad thing?

Also note my axolotl is currently in very warm water (and yes, I know thats bad but there is nothing I can do about it) and he seems perfectly fine as in he eats fine and he swims around fine, although in relatively little amounts but i didnt know if that might make him swim differently.

What do you mean there is nothing you can do about the temp? Fans and ice bottles are possible for virtually everyone.
Food should always be completely defrosted before feeding to an axie. But axies are walkers, not swimmers, and their natural hunting instinct is to search for food on the bottom. But yes, many axies look rather awkward when they start to swim to the surface.

I have two fans running in my room and I do sometimes use ice bottle but I am not always around to continuously put them in and it woukd cause temperature fluctuations which I heard arent good for axolotls. I have left my window open with a fan in it for two nights now and it has dropped a few degrees so that is helping.
