Does anyone know what is affecting my axolotls gill? At first glance I thought fungus but it doesnt look right for that. The gill seems to have deflated somewhat and had become white. Rosie is eating and acting normally other than this, she is actually laying eggs as I type this. Has anyone seen anything like this before, is it an infection of some sort?

Diificult to say from that photo, but I agree it doesn't look like fungus.

Healing skin can look white or pale, is it possible her gills were nipped or she caught it on something and it's just a minor injury? Either way it doesn't look bad, I'd leave her to it unless she develops fungus or infection.

An injury would make sense as the 2 boys were chucking her about a bit yesterday morning trying to mate with her. I was considering separating her from them because they were being so rough but they calmed down quite quickly, luckily.

I just wanted to.update. This bit of gill fell off soon after the original post. It has now almost grown back as before. I believe that someone had mistaken her gil for a yummy worm and had a nibble.
Thanks for your replies.
