We recently “inherited” this axolotl from one of my son’s friends. It seems a bit underweight and has a red bulge coming out of his abdomen. His friend told him it was seen by a vet in the past and they told her not to worry about it. I’m skeptical that this guy ever saw a vet. His friend also advised she was only feeding him twice a week. Based on the research we’ve done we have upped his feedings to daily and put measures in place to cool his tank & keep the water clean. He seems more active in just the week that we’ve had him but I’m still concerned about that red bulge. I haven’t been able to find any similar cases but perhaps I’m not using the right
search criteria. Any ideas?
