I've had my axolotls about 2 weeks now and they are doing great :) I also raise crayfish. The blues I keep or sell and the browns I sell or use for feeders for different tanks, they are less then an inch right now and really couldn't physically do any damage to the lotls, but are they safe for them to eat? Live or frozen either way?

Right now they have all the guppies they can eat and hunt and earthworms and I have pellets just incase.

I've heard of people feeding axolotls baby crayfish as a snack every now and then. But they have to be fed before they start developing their hard shells, because axolotls can't digest chitin or shell pieces. Or at least they can't digest chitin. Axolotls eat snails, even in the wild, so I'm not 100% on the shell part. Either way, best to feed the crayfish before they develop fully.
