First time axolotl owner the pet store i happened to buy her from did not take good care of her or help me in any way shape or form. When i got her i treated her for fungal infection. Long story short my tank is having an issue with converting the nitrite into nitrate. All the water parameters are as follows water temp 64 degrees, PH 7.6, Ammonia 0.25ppm, Nitrite 2 ppm, Nitrate 40ppm. I just pulled her from the tank and placed her in a plastic storage bin as i noticed the tip of her tail curve. Any suggestions on how to speed the tank along?

Oh my 2 ppm of Nitrite is no good! I would add live plants as they helped my water levels! I added AP Quick start when I first started cycling my tank as it adds helpful bacteria- but I've heard of a lot of people using Seachem Prime and loving it! I would also check out what type of filter your using as that's also a lot of nitrate I would suggest doing at least a 50% water change.

I use Pothos in my tanks, and seachem prime as my water conditioner. I also I always rinse out filter media and sponges in old tank water during water changes. I agree with the 50% water change.
