Axy will only hand-feed

I got the full testing kit in scotland for only £ 12 , which i thought was good, considering all the bus trips into the pet shop. I also have my baby amoxy who will hand feed. With my rehomed boy who was only ever give one fish pellet( who was polluted with other fish) will only search in the pebbles for food, i am trying to get him used to hand feeding now. When he feeds it is like a ritual, he sees it, stalks it then goes for it, so i dont know if this is ok, or should i continue to hand feed him, he certainly is eating lol

i am wanting to put sand in my tank instead of pebbles as my axies seem to eat them but it looks hard to look after what is the best way to clean it?

you may want to start your own thread more people will reply to it that way, you should also look through old posts you may fined your answer

Anne Marie, I got my Master Test kit for $39.95, or $49.95 (can't remember), the same brand as Cynthia mentioned. Maybe you could ask the store to order one in for you.

Deanna - to wash sand I put it in a large beach towel and then tied the towel around it into a ball and then rinsed it in the towel.

Others have said they used a cloth rice sack (sounds easier than the towel if you have a rice sack).

thanks for the info cynthia i will try it that way. i have got a few large rocks in my tank at the moment but the rest of it is bare and i hurd that it strees' the axies out if you have no sand or something that they can grip on to.

Deanna - I have heard that too, however I have 3 axolotls that are on bare bottom and have been for at least a couple of months and it does not seem to bother them. They will be put into a sand substrate soon because I like the way sand looks

There are others here who have said they keep all their axolotls on bare bottoms all the time.
