The creek next to my house became green this year because of the rains we have gotten here in CA. So I thought, why don't I go look for some salamanders? It was a cloudy, chilly and I think I found some Batrachoseps attenuatus! I found two, one large one, and what looked like to be a juvenile. The pictures below are of the large one.

Although I found this time of year, does anybody know what they do in the summer when it gets really hot and dry? I wonder how they survive being fully terrestrial.

Thanks for sharing it, I imagine that during the summer are buried under rocks and logs, where moisture and is slightly freshest

Nice finds!
They go underground when it gets dry/hot or cold.
