I'm thinking of changing the bas of my axolotl tank. At the moment I have sand. Is it possible to change to pebbles?

I used to have pebbles but someone told me that my axolotls wouldn't be safe with these.

I'm contemplating two options.

1) Buying large pebbles

2) Buying extremely small pebbles.

I have no idea which ones would be better.

Any advice?

Pebbles are really bad. If you get larger ones get them 3 times the size of their head, axolotls are amazing at what they can swallow. Extremely small pebbles will not work.

Hmm, I see so should I stick with sand? I've seen tanks with pebbles in them but I shy away from them as my axolotls are pretty big.

Yeah sand is the best. You could silicone all the pebbles together! It'll look pretty and it will be safe.
