BBS eating gills and axies!

This morning when i put the BBS in to feed my axie babies i noticed they was eating the gills on the baby axies! has anyone else had this happen? is there anything else i can feed them until they are big enough to eat micro worms?

You are talking about freshly hatched brine shrimp, right? Not the full-grown brine shrimp that some lucky people can buy at the fish store, right?

I seriously doubt they are eating the gills. If I recall, they are filter feeders. If you want to raise them, you feed them things like yeast.

I feed brine shrimp weekly to my juvenile Axolotls and I'm confident they do not eat the fimbriae of the Axolotls..

You are definitely talking about baby brine shrimp correct? In my experience I have never had any negative issues with bbs so I would find that really odd!

The BBS are not eating the gills, they are just settled on the gills and in the slightly tacky slime coat. They can't harm the axie larvae.

Yes im talking about baby brine shrimp they are little. i noticed they was covering all of some of the babies gills and some of their tails as well. ive never had this happen before. i got the BBS off of the gills and almost all of them that had BBS on the gill area had no more gills ? and they was dead! ive not seen them bite at each other. (i know it happens tho) they are all the same size right now. only 4 days old or so. i just find it odd that only the ones with BBS on the gills was the only ones missing gills! i think these BBS done went zombie! lol

You have many babies in one container correct? Is it possible you didnt notice that some had died before you put the bbs in with them? In my experience with brand new hatchlings, you do lose some, and when they die, the bbs seem to cover them for some reason. As far as the gills , are you just talking about the dead ones missing gills? After death they curl forward and shrivel a bit.

Yes they was in a 10 gallon i was going to get plastic cups next thursday but i went ahead and used my glass cups and bowls cause i didnt want more to die. they might have been already dead im not 100% sure but i do check to see if i see any dead ones before and after and i didnt notice any dead ones before hand. and yes they was dead and i see no gills so they probably curled up like u said
