Hello guys,

I just wanted to make this thread to discuss your places (no locality) on where you have found A.tigrinum and when you have found this species. Include month, location ( general not local), habitat, and weather. Include pictures of your finds and your best way of finding them.
If you have not found this species include other species you have found or ask us how to find this species.

About 55 degrees and drizzle after a big afternoon soaker of a rainstorm, on a back road through some oak/hickory upland forests dotted with vernal pools in South-Central Michigan. It was early April, April 5 if I'm not mistaken. Pictures are on naherp.com.

This spring I saw my first tiger salamanders by road cruising on a rainy night in early March. Here in Kentucky, they are limited to open areas; the road we cruised ran through pastures with some fairly large but shallow cattle ponds along the road.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
