Hii, bit of a late introduction but my name is Izz and I've got an axolotl named Chilli who I've had for about 4 months now. We're based in Australia!

Chilli's a massive weirdo and I love her to bits. I knew that aquatic care was a lot more complex than the fishbowls made it out to be but that was definitely solidified as soon as I started looking through this site. It was a bit rough in the beginning but now Chilli is a happy big girl.

I also crochet axolotl plushies at the moment to earn some extra cash. Safe to say these animals take up a large chunk of my life now.

I'm looking forward to being apart of this community!

- Izz, (peep Chilli trying to get into her pipes / falling out.)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
