hey guys, "snoop" (my water dawg) lol just pooed out an extremely large poop... it measured 3cm long by 1cm wide... is this weird? and my tank water has a slight green tinge to it... i have no plants in it... is this normal as well? thanks in advance!

lol my axies poos are about the same length, maybe the green tinge could be algea? dont use algea rid though id just scrap it of the tank, algea rid is bad for axies.

My tank has a green tinge to it too, but all levels etc are fine.

Could be due to the bacteria etc living in there?

Anyone know?

I don't think it's because of bacteria. At least not of the beneficial kind. If you have a good bacteria culture going in your tank, this will help clean the water I think.

It might be some algae. There are many different species of algae, so I would think there might be a kind of algae living only in the water, not settling anywhere... just some thoughts..

Probably free-floating algae taking advantage of nitrates in the water (even if the levels are low, they still provide food for plants). Try introducing some live plants (hornwort, elodea, java moss, anubias, etc), these will suck up the nitrates and probably get rid of the green tinge. Alternately, if your tank is near a light source, a window or a lamp or such, try cutting off this light and seeing if that helps.

here ya go lol

wat a lovely coloured poop... wish we humans were so lucky to have such unique coloured poops lol and merry christmas to everyone (and their axies!)

So will the free-floating algae reduce the nitrates in the water?

You don't want free-floating algae. It's a sign of imbalance in the tank. How often do you change the water and how much (in terms of percentage of the tank)?

Algae will reduce nitrates (as will any plants), but it makes your tank look murky.
