 This site is so cool and i found it before i purchased my newts so that i could set everything up correctly for them.
I decided on newts after my dad had found a wild palmate newt under a flag in his front garden and i was instantly smitten. This was the pet i'd been looking for, something without fur, more interesting than fish and that i'd spend time learning about as well as just looking after.
I spent about a month deciding on what i wanted and finally decided on a breeding pair of pygmy marbled newts, whether they'll ever breed will depend i suppose on if i become competant enough to fake a winter, look after tadpole and larvae and stuff.
My newts were not named for about a week because i wanted their names to mean something cool, Bindy my female means "beautiful serpent", i know shes not a serpent but she's by beautiful water dragon. Brinsop, my male is named after the dragon that lived in a well that supposedly fought St. George.
We have also got a little whiteworm farm in the shed, and when thats grown in a couple of months time they'll be getting those to eat as well as their current favourites bloodworm and chopped earthworm.
All for now, but i'm sure i'll be posting more, Shar x:talker:
