I have seen for a while with my axie that one of his gills (left middle one) is sort of floppy compared to his others. While the others seem to be perked up, this one kind of just sags around. I have wondered for a while about this, if it is maybe some kind of birth defect that makes it not as strong as the others? I'm not quite sure exactly how to explain it but I will attach a picture. Also I noticed that his right eye seems a little lower and more 'punched' in than his left. I know that not all creatures are perfectly symmetrical but it is a clear enough difference to be noticeable. Obviously he is not sick but I wanted to know if these types of things are common among axolotls? Another thing is that he has one less digit on one of his back feet (4 instead of 5). He's my special little guy :)

Mine are the same. I think they were eaten and grew back.

Each axolotl has variation in how the gill stalks branch out. And injury can cause them to grow back funny. :)
