Bleeding "in" the tail?

Anyone know what's up with Leonard's tail? I noticed it a few weeks ago, it doesn't look as bad now but it looks like his tail is actually bleeding from the inside. It doesn't seem to bother him but regardless I'd like to know why this has happened if anyone knows? Thanx

Probably an old injury? An axie "bruise" perhaps.
