hey, i got a gold axie a week ago from a pet shop and im not sure whether he is blind or its just his behaviour? the shop owner had a light at the top of the tank and im not sure if that could of caused my axie to go blind. my axie seems to be extremely active and it swims into the glass but he just keeps on swimming into it like its not a wall and every now and then he swims into rocks in the aquarium.
In desperate need of advice please help!!!!!!
:errr::errr::errr:

Re: blind axolotl?

Bumping into and swimming into things is not unusual for axies. They don't have the best eyesight or brakes. When he swims, is it frantic? Check the parameters and make sure they are all in check (was your tank cycled before your axolotls arrived?).

Re: blind axolotl?

Thank you for replying Skudo09, he doesn't swim franticly but it does look like he is trying to get so where, the water flow is fine and everything seems to be in check thats why im guessing he's partially blind because he eats fine but you have to drop the food infront of his face.

Re: blind axolotl?

That is completely normal. As mentioned above, axolotls naturally have poor eye sight.
