They've spent some two months in the fridge, but are back in town since a few days: i've built them a new tank and they seem to like it.......

What keeps them from making their way out, is there a lid usually, just removed for pictures?

I love the tank though!

There's no lid. Bombina maxima likes it cool and
well-ventilated and are blessed with a very calm
behaviour, they don't climb, and hopping is very restricted.

Even with their cool demeanor, it still seems like quite a risk to me. It looks awfully easy for one to get out just by crawling along the leaves of those plants.

Just a matter of accurate and lasting observation
before i decided to create this set-up: no risk at all, imho.

Out of interest Han, would you keep B.orientalis in this beautiful setup, or would they be more likely to escape than B.maxima?

I wouldn't keep Bombina orientalis in this set-up. They are more lively, athletic and jumpy and
would certainly find their way out.
Han.

I've also some maxima's (5 juveniles). Han, your photo's are a good inspiration. Where do you bought the plastic plants?

Silk plants actually, fake but good looking.
Cheapest source for those are all kinds of garden-shops like Intratuin, Europatuin etc.
