Hello all! My axolotl is a little over seven inches long and the fingertips turned dark about a month ago. Is it too early to tell the sex?

I'm thinking female, but I wanted to ask the experts :) Maybe she's still too immature. I've attached a few pictures of my little Fozz. Input is appreciated!!

At this stage she looks female (and a very pretty female too :))

My wildtype male looked a lot like this at 7 months with toetips changing colors, so we were thinking female. Then lo and behold at 11 months, "she" showed himself a he almost overnight and became baby daddy. Just sayin', there's still room for surprises at the tender age of 7 months.

I had the opposite.......at 8 months I thought my Sebastian was male.......so in he went to the big boys tank.........until " he" produced eggs!!....now living in the girls tank!!You have a well trained pet to be so obliging in lifting her legs!!

Oh wow! I'd be shocked if 'she' decided to change after eleven months! From what I can tell, she's 7-8 months, so I guess I better wait at little longer before calling it.

Charleybambino: she sat like that with all four legs straight up in th air for a good several minutes. They are such weird creatures!

Thanks for the input everyone!

Does she look too chunky to you? She's my first axolotl, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that I'm overfeeding her.
