Breeding Time Already?

Hope someone can help as ive been looking but with not much luck.

I have 2 Leucistic Axo's and i have heard that when they are a sexual maturity that they get brown/dirty coloured feet.

Ive had them for 2months and from what i can tell they are about 4 months old(5-6inches), so they shouldn't yet be even near the age for breeding, any ideas?

I think that mine are both from the same parents, as my pet shop has only one breeder. Im just wondering has anyone heard of axo's interbreeding.. as if they male and female (not sure at the moment) they may breed and i might get deformed babies!!!

Thanks!

Kim,.
White axos do get darkened toe tips when sexually mature. But it isn't the only indication.

Take a look in the photos sectiona dn you will a folder called gender or axolotl gender. I put it there some months ago. If their sexy bits look more or less like these two then they're mature.

But at 5-6 inches and 4 months it is very unlikely that yours are. A year seems to be typical but a few become active as early as 8 months.

Kim, you'll run the risk of having more deformities, but its not uncommon to cross breed between siblings (or parent-offspring) to try to get desired traits. If you're worried, then just separate them with a tank divider or separate tanks when they become mature.
