Hey guys, I recently had to bury my melanoid due to an unknown reason for death (I actually presume high ammonia levels in his tank) I noticed he was sideways and bloated three days ago but still had an appetite, I fridged him for two nights and found him stiff and bloated and no longer around this afternoon.
But it was very interesting when I removed him from the fridge and was emptying the water, I noticed his cloaca was split wide open with an almost female looking yellow egg attached with an INSANE amount of the goo that keeps the sacs safe and also comes from the females.
I’m sorry I didn’t take pictures for the sake of science, too busy mourning my little guy :(:( , but I was wondering if this is normal or common or if anyone has any idea or answers for it, just curious more than anything!

Very sorry for your loss :( I haven't heard of anything like that, was it a prolapse by any chance? Were you 100% that Brent was a male?

I didn’t look into a prolapse, I’ll read about that now if I can find something! Yes definite male! He bred with my female multiple times :)

Just researched prolapsed. Definitely not that since He wasn’t swollen at all leading up to his demise :/ He just started floating near the top of the tank and turning slowly so I placed him in the fridge and came home to that :/
