Hello all,

This morning when I woke up to turn on the low light in my tank (for the plants) I noticed bubbles coming out of my sponge filter outside of the tube in the middle. I was wondering if this means it is broken and must be replaced? Or if there is a way to fix it?

The filter is approximately 2 months old and about every month or so I gently squeeze it in old tank water to keep it running smoothly. Thank you!

Hello,

I'm guessing that there's plaque buildup inside the airline tubing right where it connects to the sponge filter, or, in the sponge filter's plastic tube that goes inside the airline tubing. This happens to me on occasion. Just disconnect the tubing from the filter and use something (a wooden toothpick works well) to chip away at the plaque buildup.

Good luck.

This worked like a charm. Thank you! :)
