Bulb for newts

Does anyone have a recommendation for a certain kind of light bulb for a mostly aquatic tank for taricha grans? Are freshwater bulbs ok?

Karin, you just want a flourescent bulb, I don't think they're called anything special. If you are using a ten gallon tank, they have the bulbs you want in the aquatics section at wal-mart.

Just don't get one that puts off any kind of heat. No reptile light or anything like that.

I like to use the "Plant & Aquarium" fluorescent bulbs, which I buy at Walmart in the regular lighting section. But if you have no live plants, then any regular fluorescent bulb would be OK.

Instead of buying the more expensive plant bulbs, you can use a combination of a warm white and a cool white bulb. (much cheaper).
