C. orientalis coming in a few weeks and i have questions.... please

18"x12"x12" = 43.6 litre = 11.2 us gallons but in the UK I think you divide litres by 4.5 (?) To get uk gallons which I make 8 uk gallons so it depends which measurement we are looking at? I assume people are saying 10 us gallons is ok? Xxxxxx

Yes, I would assume the tank size guides on here and Caudata culture are in US gallons so your tank should be fine. Sorry again for the confusion. :/

I forgot to ask about mesh size for the screen top I am making. Can it be made out of net curtain that is 2mm holes?

thankyou chinadog, I will get on with making the screen xx

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
