can you keep cynops orientallis in a completely terrestrial tank? ive upgraded my newts tanks cause the other one craked. they seem to be happier in this one cause its mor wider than deep. i put a broken plant pot in there today for them to hide in, they like that.

they laid another 4 eggs but one got fungus on it so i got rid of it. i dont know why it keeps happening. the newts have got a long airstone at the back of their tank to create a nic wall of bubble, i ve got it buried under the gravel so it looks nice, the newts like sitting on it, its so cute. anyways thought id have a long speech about my newts, im done now LOL.

They can be kept completely terrestrially. However, if they are laying eggs, this does not seem like a good time to do it. The big problem with keeping them terrestrial is what to feed them.

I'm glad to hear that they can be terrestrial because I recently remodeled my fire-bellied newt tank so that they would have a place to get completely up out of the water. Previously I only had some floating pieces of cork for them to climb on, but not get completely out of the water. Now they seem to stay on their piece of land all of the time. I was worried about them drying out. I even splashed them with water a few times. I tested the water parameters and everything is fine. I guess they are just enjoying their new land.
