The caresheet on Caudata Culture says:
"*Sasayama or Tamba race:
[...] Of particular interest is a courtship behavior: the males place one hind leg on the neck of a female while fanning their tails."

My males do this...would it be a positive ID?

They don't really look like the pictures in the caresheet, though.. http://www.caudata.org/forum/members/evut-albums-cynops-pyrrhogaster.html
My group were simply purchased as Cynops pyrrhogaster without any further specification (from Exotics and tropics website run by Marc Jacobs, this has been closed for a long time now but maybe some of you know it...?)

I´m pretty sure (99%) yours are sasayamae, just like mine, Eva.

Thanks Azhael. I know you said that before but I just noticed this remark about mating behaviour and was wondering if that would confirm it.
It is a very romantic way of courting :D

I don´t know about romantic, but it certainly is persistent....my males are all in the mood and the poor females can´t even eat in peace...it´s a contant persecution!

My boys have been leaving the girls alone for a while now but I'm sure that's just a temporary situation...

The sasayamae have indeed another mating pattern (the Kanto race also). If you've not noticed it, it won't say they haven't done it. There are many different formes of pyrrhogaster, and if they weren't sasayamae there are a few dozen forms left. So ID them shall be impossible without known location data.
I agree with Azhael, I'm also pretty sure they belong to the sasayamae race.
