The California Academy of sciences has a current exhibit on the biodiversity of California, and guess who they brought out on display?

Is that a sonoran?

Nice pics, Pin-pin. But no Taricha? I'm disappointed...

If "sonoran" means "Ambystoma californiense" then you're absolutely right.

They had a few pickled Tarichas, but no live ones.

Taricha...boring? Yeah, right. ;)

Lovely tiger! Based on what I saw at the CAS, I think someone on their staff must be seriously into caudates.

Or Pin-pin has been sending threatening letters.

If I ever make it out Cali way, I know I'm going to stop in there.

Tarichas are lovely, I was surprised they didn't showcase them. The Hotspot theme emphasized endangered species, so perhaps that was why.

Jen, it is an amazingly well-maintained collection. ;) They have an incredible amount of things that they don't keep on continual display.

I'm working on getting photos of those C. wolterstorffi in the CAS collection Tim, really. ;)
