Call for articles!!!

John,

Should I attend, I'd love to write an article in regards to a California Tiger Salamander workshop, though I doubt I could produce it in time for the next magazine (the Workshop isn't until April).

Jeff: No harm in having articles for the issue after the current one.

Thanks to Erik Keyster for his article on Pachytriton D and Joseph S for his Cynops piece. I'm hoping to get 2 more before trying to move forward with the current issue.

I'm really happy to hear that this second Installment of the C.org Magazine is going to happen. I've used articles from the old one as Sources for Biology Reports and Speeches. This website really does amazing work for such a small(In comparison to others) Hobby.

Thanks Hayden, the support is appreciated. The real donkey work is going to begin in the next little while. Any volunteer assistant editors? Basically you would need a good mastery of English - you would be proof-reading my already-edited version of an article.

If someone can twist Jennifer Macke's lovely arm into her top-level editing again, I'd be very grateful

Hi John, I'll gladly offer editorial assistance if it’s required.

John, I'd be glad to help edit some articles. I may only be a sophomore in High School but I've definitely got the time and knowledge to help you out with anything you'd like.

John, I have an MA in English Literature, I am a big nerd, and I love to proofread/edit/copyedit stuff---just let me know if you still need some volunteers and I'll be glad to do whatever needs to be done!

Thanks guys, I will probably do a 1 article per person thing (sort of like a secret Santa :p).

Hi,

I would like to help for anything if you accept me. I keep Cynops since 16 years. I'm not a biologist, but I'm a scientific journalist specialized in zoology. As you know, recently I wrote a book (in french) about Cynops pyrrhogaster and C. orientalis and I have a big experience in edition and journalism. I write for the press and the edition since 14 years and I even created my own magazine 2 years ago.

Right now I'm trying to find some interesting subjects I could write about. But unfortunately, I'm not sure you'll accept my contribution or my help. So let me now if you are interested (and if I am forgiven about some recent posts...).

Marie: the magazine is for people from the serious breeder to the newbie, and there are articles for all ends of the spectrum. I'm sure with your experience in journalism, your article would be most welcome, I have no experience of journalism, and i'm only 16, but i still wrote an article, on a topic i'm keen on.

Marie-Sophie we forget the misunderstanding in the past, don't worry.

Perhaps you could just make a summary article of Cynops orientalis from the book for newbie newt keepers; then it cuts both ways...the readers get an article and you can trigger people who want to read more to obtain the book...and to learn a bit of french as well (don't forget there are canadians as well on this board!).

Just a thought,

Sergé

Well, thank you Sergé !
Of course it's a very good idea ! But I'm not allowed to do that until the book is published (march) or I have to write an article which looks totally different of what there is in my book... I think about that, thanks for the idea !

I just want to say that all this recent enthusiasm is quite uplifting. Keep it coming please

I'm even getting some more ink refills so I'm ready to print it out when the magazine is done!

Hey you guys! John, I apparently missed your call for editors back in February. With Leanne's "bump" (hehe), it was pushed back into my radar.

I had previously offered any editorial assistance that you guys might need. So, if you still need any help I'm up for it. I'm almost a junior at Shepherd University in WV and I just received a full time position as a technical writer for the Coast Guard's Operations Service Center. (I'm an English Major with a minor in technical communication).

So, feel free to let me know if you guys need any help. I'd love to contribute but I'm still learning alot and I can't think of much that would interest most of the readers that have been in the hobby way longer than me.

I could probably do a fun short piece on "Newts and college dorms." But, having done it for a year (and never wanting to do it again) I wouldn't really recommend it.

Anyway, let me know.

I'm going to evaluate the situation regarding articles and decide whether or not to go ahead with an issue in the next 2 months. I will post again this weekend with my decision. Thank you to everyone who has offered to help - it means a lot.

Phil, I'm glad you like the forum. Just a bit of friendly advice: please try to keep your messages in threads that are on the same topic. This thread is about the new edition of the Caudata.org Magazine.
