I have set up my tank for my Axolotl, it’s been cycling and my Axolotl arrives the first week in January. I have been monitoring my tank temperatures and I am so confused on how to keep it from fluctuating so much.

During the day it’s anywhere from 67 degrees to 61.
Then at night it drops as low as 57.

I don’t have any fans on it.
That’s just my bedroom temperature and I have a ceiling fan which is on all the time.
I’m scared for when I get my axie that the huge fluctuations will cause it to get sick or stressed.

A night time drop in temp is fine. As long as the fluctuations stay on the cold side you will be fine.

Good to know! Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
