Can anyone help me identify what subspecies this is?

A few weeks ago i adopted this guy from some owners who had caught him in South Colorado and kept him for a few years. They didn’t feel like he could survive in the wild again so I took him. I was just curious, can anyone tell me what subspecies he is?

It is a barred tiger salamander, also known as the western tiger salamander. Fun fact- (Ambystoma mavortium) was designated the official state amphibian of Colorado in 2012.
 
I wasn't sure of the exact subspecies of my two until I found out that there are two subspecies here in Alberta. The barred tiger and the grey tiger. Both of mine are the Barred Tiger variety
I live just along the northern range of the Barred tiger (In Edmonton). IMG_9350.JPGDQNL9038.JPG

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
