Can newts eat chicken?

i have a cousin that swears they used to have a pet newt that ate raw meat. They would feed it whatever meat they ate. Can newts eat meat? does it have to be cooked? raw? what kind.

It is OK to feed newts raw meat. In fact, you can buy little cubes of frozen beef heart in pet shops to feed fish or amphibians. I used to feed my newts raw chicken liver quite often. HOWEVER, I personally don't recommend it, except as an occasional food. There are lots of nutrients that you get in a whole insect or worm that you don't find in raw meat. And there's the "unnatural" aspect of it - no newt is going to eat chicken in the wild.
