Can someone help me identify my newt??

Hey guys,
So I recently bought myself a newt, I used to go catch them in Belgium every year. Now I live in Dubai, and I found them in the pet shop.
I got myself one, but I'm not sure what it is? I was thinking maybe a crested newt of some sort, but the shop had them in a fully aquatic setup?
They had it under "Walt salamander". It was kept with around 5 others, all the same color except one which was albino. They were all kept with dwarf African clawed frogs.
The setup was fully aquatic, except for one piece of driftwood that stuck out of the water a little. It was a heavily planted tank.
I have it kept in a similar setup. I've never seen him/her leave the water.
It is a yellowish brown, with spots on it. It has a lighter belly.

After looking at some pictures online I'm pretty sure its one of em, Thank You so much!!

I was just wondering I have a gravel substrate, should I add a layer of sand on top?
I've seen him/her eat pieces but spit them back out.
Also, how do I tell the gender?
