Hi all,

We just got a new edition for our axie tank (which is over 40 gallons btw) but didn't realize the new axolotl was barely bigger than a juvie. We were under the impression it was same size as ours.

Is it okay to try putting them together? My biggest fear is that the smaller one will get eaten completely somehow, or that it'd be so badly injured that it'll die.

Generally 2 inches is considered the max size difference between two tank mates. But if they're both adults a bit more would be ok, if they're both juveniles 2 inches might be too much.

They are both adults, I think. The wildtype is definitely an adult. The leucistic is a little bit bigger than a typical juvie. But the size difference is under 2 inches.

So far so good! Thanks.
