I really need to feed my newts up as one of them is quite skinny but i cant seem to find waxworms that aren't live, im a strict veggie and i think i'd struggle with live ones!
thank you!

Like Mac has said, while you may be a vegetarian, your animals are not. I can understand your concern about your ability to feed live food, but when caring for animals, you have to think about what is optimal for them, rather than for yourself.

They are right your newts will much more appreciate live moving waxworms, since it is in their nature to eat livefoods. One of my best friends is vegitarian, and I once had to help her get past the fact that her boyfriends snake could not eat broccoli puffs instead of mice.:p Yes...broccoli puffs! Silly side note there. But maybe you could put a couple in and not watch? I know what is best for your newts is not easy on you, but please try to understand that it is the natural way of things.

Another thing to take into consideration is the nutritional aspect of dead waxworms. They begin to decay immediately following death so you would need to feed them to your newts within a few hours for it to be beneficial.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
